Roxette - Concert in Buenos Aires 04.04.2011

Roxette had been waited on Luna Park by an  enthusiastic crowd that throughout the show was the third voice of the group singing nonstop the familiar songs of the 90s.
Both Per and Marie were in good mood and the fans have considered their performance as one of the most successful. In the concert was played  a rock-n-roll version of "Stars" and Christoffer Lundquist sang during the group presentation an Argentine Tango which the public highly appreciated.

The Rolling Stones magazine published a review containing impressions from the first concert of the "Charm School" tour in the Argentina's capital:

Roxette: glorious return
After 16 years of absence, the legendary Swedish group consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle was present at Luna Park, on his third visit to the Argentina, reviewing their unforgettable hits.

"Olé, olé, olé, olé, Roxette, Roxette," chanted a impatient crowd  when they had only spent five minutes from the 21h. Outside, the historical vendors did the same with black and white shirts, stickers and posters. Even so, the deployment of merchandising can not be compared with the magnitude of the band tourin in 1992. At that time they had filled two Vélez stadium because, as fans said, everybody was there.

On Luna Park, however, the public was more selective. But the hardcore fans were there. The average age was 30 years old and there were most of those who had already experienced the golden years of a long-haired  Per Gessle and the blonde Marie Fredriksson. The stars entered one by one and with them the voices of the group. Escorted by a huge poster showing a picture of Per and Marie in their younger years, the minimalist stage lit up and the welcome card was the successful: "Dressed for Success."

While it is undeniable that the passed years had left traces on the voices of the singers, the good mood, the energy and the characteristic touch of simplicity and humility of Roxette did not changed. Marie, more timid and quiet than in past (perhaps because the disease he had to fight) did not achieved high ropes but kept a tuned and smooth
register. Per, with less voice than his partner was much stronger and dominant than in the presentation of 1992 in which Marie was undoubtedly the pampered queen of the duo. On this occasion, the pair formed a gimmicky tandem.

Among the twenty subjects performed (21 were also the years of fame in Argentina), both Per and Marie alternately addressed to the public in English: "I am very excited to be in Buenos Aires," she said. "We will play old and new songs , and we`ll see what happens" he ventured. Marie dare a "Muchas Gracias" in Spanish after singing that song which definitely was the star of the night: "It Must Have Been Love." Per said that he would lead the public to Hollywood, and anticipated the issue of "Pretty Woman" that entered the skin and touched the hearts of everyone.

For about two hours, the repertoire included classics like "The Big Love", "Sleeping in My Car" and "Fading Like a Flower" (from the album Joyride and Crash! Boom! Bang!) which bombed with their retro cargo and other newer themes. A compilation from "How Do You Do" and "Dangerous" marked the moment of greatest celebration. The party continued with "Joyride", theme of the album with the same name and the balloons began to fall from the stands and float over the heads of those who were standing in front of the stage. The screens on each side project the same image made famous by Roxette: Per & Marie together, she with the microphone in his hand and him on guitar.

One last favorite was "Listen to Your Heart", which referred to that video, to an abandoned castle that evening programs on Saturday put on and on in the `90 . There, in front of a barefoot Marie, thousands of fans lit their lighters to accompany the music. Yesterday, in a lower capacity stadium in Argentina, the fans turned on their phones. The closure was "Church of Your Heart", a slow and softer song, which was preceded by Per goodnight.

For some, it was the first time in Roxette show (maybe the last), for others, why not, a trip back to adolescence.
