Elin Aram is the star of the new Roxette video “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)“, the first single from “Charm School” album. In the clip directed by Mats Udd, she characterizes DJ Takeover. The most interesting thing about her is that she is a real Roxer and she works as DJ since fourth years. That’s why Run to Roxette made an interview with her to know more about her.
How long have you been a Roxette fan?
Since I was a little kid. I was crazy about them. I remember that (at least then) huge book “The look for Roxette”. They were a big part of my childhood. So I had to say yes to the part in the video.
How did you got the oportunity to work on the new Roxette video?
I knew Mats since before. He had been listening to my mixes for a while and asked me to join a tv-show about music two years ago. We’ve been friends since. And then he just called me up two weeks before the shooting. Out of the blue.
How was your experience shooting the video with Mats Udd?
Great! He was such a supportive and patient director. Couldn’t ask for anyone better. I had tons of fun during the shooting. It was an intense day.
Are you interested in having a career as an actress?
That was my biggest dream as a kid. I don’t know about now. When he asked me if I had any previous acting skills I told him I took classes when I was about eight years old. I was nervous of acting again, to be honest.
Why “DJ Takeover”?
Hah! You should ask Mats for that. But I like the story he set up for the video: A DJ who just takes over parties. DJ Takeover was supposed to be very confident but easy going. I dig that a lot.
Did you had the chance to meet Per and Marie?
Unfortunately no! I wish. I’m just excited about the fact that they have seen me in the video.
How long have you been working as DJ?
Almost four years now! Long time…
What is it “Do It“?
That is my DJ duo consisting of my best friend and me. We’ve always been dj:ing together. From Melbourne to Shanghai to minimal cities in the north of Sweden.
Did you ever made a remix of a Roxette song?
No I haven’t (yet!).
Will you make some remix of “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)”?
Unfortunately, I don’t think I have the time for that. But maybe I should look into using some pieces of their music for my future mixes.
What kind of music do you like to play?
Mostly techno and electro! That bouncy and airy stuff.
